Travel Bloggers #1 - Life is Short and the World is Wide

Saturday, October 14th, 2006

Life is Short and the World is Wide is written by a regular poster to the backpackerboard.co.nz site - Rich.

Rich was in New Zealand from Feb 17, 2005 to Feb 27, 2006, with some trips to Oz along the way.

This is one of the best travel blogs to read if you want to get an idea of what it is like to travel round NZ. Rich writes well and supplements his writing with a lot of pictures. Reading this has given me a good list of things to so and hostels to stay in. Rich did a lot of walks / tramps as well, which are of particular interest to me.
Visit his site on Travel Pod here - Life is Short and the World is Wide. He has now got the travel bug, having benn to Norway since returning from NZ and is planning to travel to Japan next.

Matthew Fergusson Has Left The UK

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

My mate, Matthew Fergusson just flew out of Heathrow - hes doing exactly the sam thing as me, just 4 weeks earlier. He’s got a site here - www.matthewfergusson.me.uk which should be all wordpressed up soon and serve as his travel blog.

Matt decided to jack his job in and just go - then he told me his plans and I thought it was such a good idea that I ought to do it as well. We should be meeting up in Auckland for a few beers in about 4 weeks or so :-) , 12000 miles away from where I am typing now.

Somehow seeing his flight go has brought it home to me that I go pretty soon, Nervous but exited!
